What is Dedicated Hosting Service
Tuesday, July 5, 2011 9:32 No CommentsIn contrast to colocation, the server hardware is owned by the provider and in some cases they will provide support for your operating system or applications. A dedicated hosting service, dedicated server, or managed hosting service is a type of Internet hosting in which the client leases an entire server not shared with anyone. This is more flexible than shared hosting, as organizations have full control over the server(s), including choice of operating system, hardware, etc. Server administration can usually be provided by the hosting company as an add-on service. In some cases a dedicated server can offer less overhead and a larger return on investment. Dedicated servers are most often housed in data centers, similar to colocation facilities, providing redundant power sources and HVAC systems.

Internet server monitoring and what it does to ISP Industry
Wednesday, April 27, 2011 10:33 No CommentsWeb server monitoring may be internal, i.e. web server software checks its status and notifies the owner if some services go down, and external, i.e. some web server monitoring companies check the services status with a certain frequency. External monitoring is much more reliable, as it keeps on working when the server completely goes down. Internet server monitoring is much wider than website monitoring. Monitoring a web server means that the server owner always knows if one or all of his services go down.
All types of Hosting
Thursday, April 21, 2011 8:05 No CommentsAs explained before, hosting implies a computer, somehow similar to the one you have at home, connected to the Internet, where your website’s files reside. This way, people who surf the Internet can access your website. So, if we were to give a definition for a web hosting company, it will be: Web Host = A service provider with a computer or a network of computers, connected to the Internet, where you can place your web site. A web host basically rents out its computers space and connection to you, so that you can make your web site available on the Internet. Web hosts are responsible for keeping the server (and your website) online, and also maintaining and upgrading it.
What exactly is web hosting?
Monday, March 21, 2011 19:08 No CommentsWhen a visitor makes a request to your URL, a web server “hears” that request and gets the files from the disk where your website lives, and shows them to the visitor. If you want to create a simple web page, or build a massive web store like Amazon’s, you need web hosting. You build your pages using a web language like HTML, build your scripts (programs) using a server language like PERL or C#, and then you upload everything to your web host, tweak some values for your scripts (if you have scripts) and voila… your live. (That’s a very, very simplified answer.) What exactly is web hosting? – In a nutshell, web hosting is a like a folder or directory on your computer, except it’s on a computer that’s connected to the Web 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And, anyone on the web can read what you put in it. To use a web host, you put your files in your space on the web host. Visitors can find your files by going to your web address (called a URL.)
